peedee.es - now open for all!
So, I guess this is the post where I hype the living daylights out of things, but I'm an awful hype man - you're going to get my best effort, though! I am angrydutchman.online, and responsible for all of this.
What is peedee.es?
PDS-as-a-service. PDS hosting. Whatever you want to call it, really. Always wanted to run your own PDS but didn't know how, or couldn't be bothered, or the planets just didn't align? Peedee.es will do it for you. A few clicks, and you can have a PDS up and running in ~5 minutes.
A small note, while peedee.es is in fact open for business, it is a bit of a "beta" in the sense that while I can test a lot of things (and have been running my own PDS for a while on it) I can't test everything, so there may be a few bugs lurking around dark corners.
Who is it for?
Everyone! The more the merrier. You want a PDS for yourself? Get one. For you family? Get one. Your friends? Get one. You're a developer working on a nice ATproto app and you want to offer a PDS to your users? Get one.
There's no reason not to. So just get one.
Peedee.es has packages ranging from tiny to ludicrous, and if you need something even bigger, or with an actual contractual SLA, or something custom, get in touch on [email protected]!
What do I get with a PDS?
The list! Got to have a list! Non-exhaustive, by the way:
- a nice dashboard that lets you manage your PDS, including:
- Account management
- Labeler ingestion (to spot any problem users)
- WYSIWYG branding editor
- Self-serve invite code issuing
- Marque.at integration (records only, for now)
- easily adjustable data and blob quotas; you can even lower them, it's not just a "raise raise raise some more" thing.
- hosted in Europe, or European jurisdiction.
- GDPR! You know you love it.

Why is peedee.es - the origin story!
So a while ago, early 2025-ish, I started running my own PDS, because that's just what you do, right? Since I had a whole duplicate setup of what we used at my place of work at the time (because home-labbing is fun, even if it's more like cloud-labbing these days) I used that to run it all.
That's sort of where the idea came from, especially since it seemed to me that having something that provided a simple, one (or few) click PDS setup would be just the thing the Atmosphere needed.
It took a while to get there. But, it's here now.
How does peedee.es - for the nerds!
I'll probably write more detailed "for the nerds/tech folk" blogs here, but the short version is:
- OpenStack based cloud infrastructure
- Nomad container orchestration
- A few little Go binaries for the memory critical/speed critical stuff
- A heaping lot of Perl (yes, really) for everything else
- Two side-projects spawned from all of this: Halcyon and Mojo::ATProto::OAuth
And that'll be that!
Now go forth and order a PDS. So I can afford to go to Mickey D's and eat a burger? Please?
